I hope life is treating you well.
I've been spending a lot of time at my parents' house, sitting on their back deck. I know when people say "touch grass," they usually mean it in a snarky way, but it's really solid advice. I think about all the sounds I've missed out on because I lived in the city for years. I never had a chance to hear crickets, birds, or even the wind rustling through the trees. I moved so quickly through life that I never gave myself a chance to experience it. The height of the pandemic, when Akiel and I would sit at Piedmont Park for hours, was probably the closest only because everything else halted.
I feel like life has been moving at a pretty appropriate pace for me right now. That's in part because I'm carving out time to disconnect from electronics, instead replacing it with time sitting outside, reading, writing, and at the library.
I can officially say that I've fallen back in love with the library. *cue Tom Cruise jumping on Oprah's couch*
